Calgary police have arrested a 20-year-old man after he breached his court-ordered release conditions just two days after leaving custody. Officers caught the repeat offender downtown carrying a firearm, dangerous weapons, and illegal drugs.
Police originally charged the Calgary man in August 2026 following a liquor store robbery.
Officers seized a loaded .22-caliber lever-action rifle during that initial arrest.
Courts released him on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, under strict conditions including a 24-hour curfew and a weapons prohibition.
The Calgary Police Service Offender Management Team immediately began tracking his movements.
Detectives spotted the suspect downtown on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, and confirmed he was violating his curfew.
Nearby members of the Community Engagement Response Team moved in quickly and took him into custody.
During the search, officers seized a firearm, bear spray, nine grams of methamphetamine, and eight grams of fentanyl.
Police charged the suspect with multiple offenses, including firearm possession, drug trafficking, and breaching probation orders.
Youngman will remain in custody and will appear in court on Friday, Nov. 6, 2026.
“We have found targeting repeat offenders is very efficient in promoting public safety, however it requires substantial resources and co-ordination not only from various areas within the Service, but with our external partners as well,” said Staff Sgt. Kerry Smith of the Calgary Police Service Offender Management Unit. “Our officers continue to dedicate a significant amount of time to monitoring high-risk individuals as we try and ensure they do not breach their conditions or reoffend, and that we intervene before they have the opportunity to victimize Calgarians.”
