Calgary police are searching for witnesses and hit-and-run crash video following a multi-car collision on the city’s main thoroughfare. The crash happened on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, at approximately 2:55 p.m.
A black Ford Explorer with black steel rims was travelling northbound near Memorial Drive N.E. According to initial reports, the driver was weaving through traffic and making aggressive, dangerous lane changes. The SUV suddenly side-swiped a grey 2021 Acura RDX in an adjacent lane. The force of the impact sent the Acura spinning out of control.
Consequently, the out-of-control Acura slammed directly into a red 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan. Both struck vehicles lost traction and smashed into the median barrier. They finally came to a stop along the left shoulder of the northbound lanes.
Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle accelerated away without stopping to render assistance. Witnesses observed the black SUV speeding away, last seen heading eastbound on 16 Avenue N.E.
Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene to assess damages and assist occupants. Investigators are actively gathering evidence to locate the suspect vehicle and identify the driver.
Authorities are appealing directly to the public for critical information. Anyone driving along the northbound lanes or near 16 Avenue N.E. around the time of the collision are being requested to check their recording devices.
