The City of Calgary is inviting residents to help shape the new Calgary cultural plan through public engagement running until Nov. 15. Municipal leaders want community feedback to guide the long-term vision for local arts, music, and the creative economy.
The updated Calgary cultural plan will direct future public investments, policy decisions, and community partnerships over the next 30 years.
City officials published Calgary’s first cultural blueprint in 2016 to support local neighborhood vitality.
Arts and culture boost community well-being, drive tourism, attract top talent, and stimulate economic growth across the city.
“Arts and culture are part of how we experience Calgary every day,” said Franca Gualtieri, Manager of Arts & Culture at The City of Calgary. “Whether it’s a festival, gathering place, cultural tradition or creative experience, these things help shape our city and connect us to one another. We’re encouraging Calgarians to share what matters to them to help inform the updated cultural plan.”
Gualtieri encouraged all residents to share what matters most to them to help shape future creative opportunities.
Calgarians can participate by taking an online survey, joining a virtual info session, or attending a local open house.
The City will summarize public feedback in a official report before launching the next engagement phase in spring 2027.
City staff plan to present the final proposed strategy to City Council in late 2027.
Residents can learn more and share their input directly by visiting calgary.ca/culturalplan.
