Police are investigating an incident in which a 79-year-old man succumbed to his injuries following a collision which took place on Saturday, August 22.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., the man who was driving a 2015 BMW south on Crowchild Trail, N.W., suddenly slowed near 32 Avenue N.W.
A 2024 Toyota Tacoma, which was also travelling south in the same lane, and was being driven by a 57-year-old man, rear-ended the BMW. The BMW’s driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. He died in hospital on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026.
The driver of the Toyota, along with his two nine-year-old passengers, sustained minor injuries.
According to police neither speed nor alcohol or drugs appear to be factors in this collision. The medical fitness of the BMW driver is being investigated.
