Calgary police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred Friday night in the city’s southwest.
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2026, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am traveling southbound on Tsuut’ina Trail S.W. near 90th Avenue S.W. left the roadway and struck the concrete base of a sign pole.
First responders extricated the driver—a man in his 20s who was the sole occupant—and transported him to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators do not believe speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
The incident marks Calgary’s 18th fatal collision of 2026, bringing the city’s traffic fatality count to 22 for the year.
