The Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC)—representing producers behind over 40 percent of the country’s oil—has officially thrown its support behind a proposed west coast oil pipeline.
In a letter sent to the Government of Canada, EPAC indicated that many of its upstream oil producers anticipate committing significant volumes to the new infrastructure.
The backing follows Alberta’s submission to the federal Major Projects Office, which detailed how the pipeline aims to enhance Canadian energy security, generate economic benefits, and strengthen national autonomy.
“This is good news for people across Alberta,” provincial officials stated, noting that moving barrels through the pipeline supports jobs from Fort McMurray to the Peace region and provides a more secure economic future for workers and families.
The provincial government also welcomed a recent notice published in the Canada Gazette initiating the process to designate the pipeline as a project of national interest. Alberta officials reaffirmed their commitment to working alongside federal authorities, private sector leaders, and Indigenous partners to advance the project to construction.
