Two teens arrested after dangerous e-dirt bike chase
Two youths are facing criminal charges after leading Calgary police on a dangerous chase through a southwest neighborhood on electric dirt bikes early Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to reports of three individuals performing stunts and driving erratically in the Coach Hill community shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. When patrol officers attempted to pull the group over, all three riders fled the scene.
The Calgary Police Service helicopter unit (HAWCS) was called in to track the suspects from above as they continued to evade ground officers, weaving dangerously through quiet residential streets. Officers eventually intercepted and arrested two of the riders.
Both youths have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.
Following the arrests, Calgary police issued a reminder to residents that electric dirt bikes are illegal to operate on public roads, sidewalks, pathways, and parks, warning that reckless driving carries serious criminal consequences.
Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the incident or the unapprehended third rider to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
