Calgary Police have arrested two individuals following a three-month investigation into a barcode-swapping scheme that defrauded local Costco stores of over $30,000. Between April 9 and June 30, 2026, the suspects allegedly placed altered UPC barcodes from low-cost items onto high-value electronics—including computers, TVs, gaming consoles, and sound equipment—at multiple locations across Calgary and nearby areas.
On August 1, 2026, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Cornerbrook Manor N.E., seizing credit card manufacturing equipment, card scanners, skimming devices, receipt printers, 31 credit cards, false identification documents, and a stolen 65-inch television. Police also confiscated 302.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine valued at over $6,000, along with packaging and scales consistent with drug trafficking.
Kristie Marie Constantinoff, 41, faces 70 charges, while Aaron Lee Head, 39, faces 119 charges, including possession of stolen credit cards, identity documents, and possession for the purpose of trafficking. “Fraud offences are often complex and can involve numerous victims and substantial financial losses,” said District 6 Inspector Scott Neilson, who urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. Head is scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2026, followed by Constantinoff on September 11, 2026.
