The driver of a vehicle that struck a Calgary Transit bus on Friday, August 28 has succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
On Friday, August 28, 2026, shortly after 9 a.m. , the 79 year old man who was driving a 2016 GMC Canyon west along the 7200 block of Bowness Road N. W. crossed the centre line, and collided head on with a city of Calgary transit bus.
The driver of the GMC Canyon was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, however the driver and occupants of the transit bus managed to escape with no injuries.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, the 79 year old died in hospital as a result of his injuries.
Investigators believe that the accident did not occur as a result of speed or impairment.
