A top business executive issued a clear Calgary tourism leader Alberta separatism warning today while endorsing the Vote to Stay movement.
Tourism Calgary Chief Executive Alisha Reynolds publicly aligned with the unity group on Sept. 30. She cautioned that political separation chatter threatens Alberta’s growing economy and tourism sector.
Reynolds pointed to fresh polling data gathered by the city’s tourism agency. The study found that 28 percent of surveyed Canadians feel reluctant to travel to Alberta due to political instability.
“Last year, tourism generated over $15 billion in economic impact to the province,” Reynolds noted during her announcement. “The industry employs more than one in ten Albertans.”
She stressed that talk of separating damages the province’s welcoming reputation across Canada. Reynolds confirmed she will vote to keep Alberta in Canada during the Oct. 19 vote.
Vote to Stay organizer Monte Solberg praised her endorsement. He stated her family history highlights the freedom to live, study, and work across a unified nation.
Organizers urge residents to support the campaign online at VotetoStay.ca.
