As traffic returns to normal this fall, Calgary police are reminding drivers to watch their speed and obey traffic signals across the city. Authorities have released the target areas for mobile photo radar enforcement throughout the month of September 2026.
Photo enforcement vehicles will focus on 17 specific communities this month, including Capitol Hill, Collingwood, Douglasdale/Douglasglen, Dover, Highland Park, Hillhurst, Lake Bonavista, Lakeview, Marlborough, Panorama, Rundle, Skyview Ranch, Sunalta, Temple, Taradale, Varsity, and Whitehorn. In addition to residential areas, mobile photo radar units will maintain a heavy presence in active construction zones whenever workers are present to ensure worker safety.
Fines for speeding in Alberta escalate based on how far a vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit. Drivers caught traveling more than 50 km/h over the limit will face a mandatory appearance before a judge.
Alongside mobile units, Calgary’s 57 automated Intersection Safety Camera sites remain active citywide to detect red-light violations, with five of those locations also enforcing speed-on-green infractions. Police state these camera locations continue to reduce traffic collisions and improve overall intersection safety.
